THE EFFECTIVENESS OF COOPERATIVE LEARNING ON EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT OF TABRIZ PRIMARY STUDENTS

Abstract

COOPERATIVE LEARNING is considered a suitable substitute for conventional teaching methods. The general aim of this study is to study the degree of effectiveness of COOPERATIVE LEARNING on primary students' educational achievement. The sample consisted of Tabriz primary students. Through random cluster sampling, four classes were selected and divided into experimental and control groups. The design was pre-experimental with pretest/posttest and control/experimental groups. The subjects in the two experimental groups received instruction in mathematics and natural sciences through COOPERATIVE LEARNING. The findings showed a significantly higher achievement by students in the experimental groups than the control groups. Moreover, there was no significant difference between male and female students in this regard.
