EVALUATION LEVEL OF CLINICAL BELONGINGNESS IN BACHELOR NURSING STUDENTS

Abstract

 Aims: BELONGINGNESS is considered to be an important phenomenon for NURSING STUDENTs and other involved people in the education. It is perceived as a connection between students’experience and the learning environment and is also one of the most crucial needs of all students for their success in learning environments. This study was determination the level of Clinical BELONGINGNESS in bachelor NURSING STUDENTs.Methods: In this study, a convineince sample of 93 NURSING STUDENTs were selected in the second semester of 2015-2016 and an adapted version of Levett-Jones et al scale with 32 items was used. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test and ANOVA.Results: The average score of students was 3.31 ± 0.56 for clinical BELONGINGNESS scale, 3.34 ± 0.60 for the subscale self-esteem scale, 3.11 ± 0.64 for the subscale connectivity scale, 3.46 ± 0.67 for the subscale efficiency. Independent t-test showed a significant difference between the average clinical BELONGINGNESS score of students interested and uninterested in the field of their study (p=0.009) and between the average clinical belonging among students with and without work experiences (p=0.05). Analysis of variance indicated a significant difference in the average clinical BELONGINGNESS score of various academic semesters (p<0.001).Conclusion: According to results, clinical BELONGINGNESS of NURSING STUDENTs was moderate. Being interested in professionals and working can be effective in the experience of BELONGINGNESS to the clinical setting.
