Title

A STUDY ON THE IMPACT OF “JOB SHARING” ON THE EMPLOYEES’ BALANCE OF WORK AND LIVING IN THE MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND SOCIAL AFFAIRS

Pages

  15-29

Abstract

In the modern world the discrepancy between labour and employees’ private life is a matter of concern to many organizations and communities. The imbalance caused by long work hours has limited the time that the employees could allocate to their families (Giddens, 2008). In the long run the undesirable work conditions bring about a high stress level as well as dissatisfaction in the workforce. The other negative impacts are frequent absence, physical and mental failures, lack of motivation, low productivity, aggravated living standard, and in some cases the firing of the affected employees. In the recent decades the managers and administrators have realized the need for utilizing a set of policies that address this drawback through reducing stress level in the workplaces, which in turn leads to higher productivity in the modern organizations. The present study focused on the impact of “JOB SHARING” strategy implemented in the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs as a FLEXIBLE WORK PATTERN leading to work and living balance. The statistical population consisted of 276 employees selected through categorized random sampling. The methodology was quantative and a standardized questionnaire was used to collect data which were tested by applying single sample K-square. The four major factors in the current research were the followings:-Job Satisfaction-Job Motivation-Job Stress-Living StandardThe findings of the study indicated that there would be a positive correlation between JOB SHARING and LABOUR AND LIVING BALANCE.
