THE RELATION BETWEEN SELF-ESTEEM AND JOB BURNOUT AMONG TEACHERS EXCEPTIONAL VOCATIONAL SKILLS COURSE AND NORMAL MIDDLE SCHOOLS

Abstract

 The present paper research investigates the relation between the SELF-ESTEEM and the JOB BURNOUT in public normal schools and exceptional schools (schools for disabled and mentally retarded students). To serve the purpose, Kerjcie and Morgan table was employed and a bunch of 200 men and women teacher busy teaching in the middle schools of Qazvine provience were chosen by cluster random sampling method in the school year of 2008-2009. To collect the information, Cooper Smith’s SELF-ESTEEM questionnaire and Potter’s JOB BURNOUT questionnaire was used. The research data was analyzed by descriptive statistics methods (central tendency criterions) and inferential statistics (multi-factor variance analysis, Pierson correlation method, T-test for independent groups and Eta-test) which led to the following findings: -There is no significant difference between SELF-ESTEEM and JOB BURNOUT between normal and exceptional schools’ teachers.-There is a significant difference in general between the members of the sample group.-There is a considerable difference in SELF-ESTEEM and JOB BURNOUT among public normal school teachers.-There is not a notable difference in SELF-ESTEEM and JOB BURNOUT among the exceptional schools teachers.-There is not an understandable difference in JOB BURNOUT between teachers in normal and exceptional schools.-There is not any significant difference in SELF-ESTEEM between teachers in normal and exceptional schools.-There is a considerable difference in SELF-ESTEEM between men and women of the sample group.-There is a notable difference in JOB BURNOUT between men and women teachers of the sample group.-There is not a significant difference in selfesteem between men and women teachers in exceptional schools.-There is not a considerable difference in JOB BURNOUT between the men and women teachers of exceptional schools.-There is not a significant difference in SELF-ESTEEM among men and women teachers of normal and exceptional schools. There is a considerable difference in JOB BURNOUT between men and women teachers of normal schools. The share of gender variable effects and the kind of schools (normal or exceptional) in SELF-ESTEEM and JOB BURNOUT was also taken into consideration.
