Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the situation of educational sites and environments and the conditions of teaching and learning in viewpoint of the nursing and midwifery students in Mazandaran University of medical sciences using the DREEM PATTERN. This is a crosssectional study conducted on 243 students of nursing and midwifery. The sampling done according randomization table. The study scale was DREEM including demographic information and 50 questions in the terms of learning, professors, and students’ perception of their scientific abilities, educational atmosphere and social environment. The data were analyzed by the software SPSS version 16. %66 of the students were females and %34 were males.Mazandaran University of medical sciences was198.3±22.41. %25.21 of the samples believed the educational atmosphere was excellent and %54.32 stated that it was good and desirable. The difference of the average total score of the university educational environment condition between male and female students, B.A and M.S students and the students admitted in different years was significant (P<0.05). Majority of the students believed the university educational atmosphere was desirable and the female students had a better point of view of the university educational environment than the male students. Educational workshops and meetings for teaching and learning skills and using educational planning principles properly can be useful: since the educational environment quality and conditions reflect the quantity and quality of the educational and lesson programs, it is possible to promote the university scientific level and students’ learningconditions using DREEM PATTERN.
