Abstract

Introduction: The DEVELOPMENTAL COORDINATION DISORDER causes many problems in motor skills of children. Designing appropriate motor plans is important to help these children. The CORE STABILITY TRAINING is one of the related programs which has attracted the attention of the experts of this field in recent years. This study was aimed to investigate the effect of CORE STABILITY TRAINING on BALANCE in children with DEVELOPMENTAL COORDINATION DISORDER.Materials and Methods: In this quasi -experimental study, 30 children with DEVELOPMENTAL COORDINATION DISORDER aged 9 to 12 years old were selected. After static BALANCE (Stork test) and dynamic BALANCE (Star test) pre-tests, they were randomly divided into three groups: CORE STABILITY TRAINING, daily activities, and control. The core stability exercise group conducted the CORE STABILITY TRAINING for 16 sessions of 45 minutes. In this period, the daily activities group performed their daily routine activities. The control group had no activity. Finally, the post-test was conducted and the results were recorded. The research hypotheses were tested using one-way analysis of variance and Tukey post hoc test (p<0.05).Results: There was no significant difference among the three groups in terms of age (p=0.955), weight (p=0.425), and height (p=0.515). Also, the central stability exercises improved the subjects' BALANCE. The central stability training group had a better performance in static and dynamic BALANCE compared to the other two groups (p<0.001). In addition, there was no significant difference between daily activities group and control group in terms of static and dynamic BALANCE (p=0.539).Conclusion: According to the findings, the core stability exercise may be used as a useful intervention to improve static and dynamic BALANCE of children with DEVELOPMENTAL COORDINATION DISORDER.
