Abstract

Background: Postoperative Pain is an important adverse effect after Cesarean section and pain management is an issue of importance in these cases. The purpose of the present study was to determine the efficacy of prophylactic Paracetamol injection for pain reduction after Cesarean. Methods and Materials: In the current interventional study that was performed as a randomized clinical trial, 60 consecutive pregnant women referring to Taleghani Hospital during 2017 and 2018 for Cesarean section were enrolled and randomly assigned to receive either Paracetamol 1 gram or placebo. The Postoperative Pain (VAS) and patient's satisfaction was compared between the two groups in the first 24 postoperative hours. Results: The results demonstrated that Postoperative Pain was significantly lower and the patient's satisfaction was higher in the first 24 postoperative hours in Paracetamol versus placebo group (P < 0. 05) Conclusion: Totally, according to the obtained results, it may be concluded that Paracetamol is an effective option for Postoperative Pain management in Cesarean cases and using this therapeutic regimen is recommended.
