Abstract

 Introduction: Adequate diet is an essential factor in maintaining a good health. As there are numerous schools in Iran, a more accurate care must be given to the ways in which this great number of students are - provided with foodstaff. Thus, this study directed at monitoring the hygienic conditions at Esfahan school food- shops in 2003-4 and also experiencing training impacts on the improvement of their keepers, hygienic stance.Methods: In this semi- experimental cross- sectional descriptive research, 310 schools of all the Esfahan's 5673 were selected using an improbable simple sampling. A checklist of 3 parts(personal hygiene, the shop's environmental hygiene and food hygiene) was used to collect the data. The cheklists were filled out under the supervision of trained researchers. The school hygienic condition was studied again and then compared to that of before the training intervention using statistical that analysis. Results: A general view of the finds indicated that 28.7% (89, ones) of the shops were of unsuitable hygienic conditions, 37.7% (117 ones) rather acceptable and 33.6% acceptable. No statistically significance was indicated before and after the inventions on the shop hygienic status. Discussion: It is concluded that the work-place and individual hygienic conditions are not acceptable so that they necessitate more attention. The statistical test also showed that training the shop- keepers was not of much effect on the hygiene of shops applying more executively- supported measures is recommended.
