Abstract

Introduction: Echinococus granulosus is a causdtive agent of cystic echinococcosis (CE) in some herbivorous animals and human beings. Different life cycle strains or poesies have been indicated by gentic evaluation all over the world. However, littile information is available on the antigenic differences between these strains. The aim of this study was to assess and compare the PROTOSCOLEX to HYDATID CYST fluid antiges of sheep, buffalo, bovin, camel and human by (SDS-PA GE) electrophoresis and Immunobloting. In addition, the presence of antibodies against different evaluated antigens was investigated using confirmed CE sera in western blotting. Methods: In the present study, 131 HYDATID CYST fluid and 45 PROTOSCOLEX samples of sheep, bovin, buffalo, camel and human were evaluated. HYDATID CYST fluid and PROTOSCOLEX from the above mentioned samples indicated bands with the ranges of 8 to 162 kDa.Results: The results indicated some differences between cyst fluid samples taken from different animal sources or even within samples from the same animals by electrophoresis. Immunobloting techniques confirmed differences between different animal sources, but there were no significant differences among animals from the same species. There was no significant difference in protoscoleces samples from all sources by electrophoresis, but Immunobloting have shown different antigenic bands in camel samples.Conclusion. Existence of similar PROTOSCOLEX patern in sheep, bovin, buffalo and human sources may be result of sheep-dog strain infection. Meanwhile, existence of some extra band in camel sources in both HYDATID CYST fluid and PROTOSCOLEX and absence of these bands in other examined sources from different mammals and human begins, could confirm possibility of antigenic variations in camel strain.
