Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to design and validate a supplementary curriculum model for first-grade elementary students with an emphasis on the remediation of Dysgraphia. Method: This research was an applied field research. The statistical population consisted of three groups of curriculum developers (n=40), learning disorder specialists (n=100), and primary school teachers (n=5607) in Mazandaran Province, Iran, in 2016-2017. Thirty-six curriculum planners, 80 learning disorder specialists (based on Morgan’ s table and selected via convenience sampling), and 381 primary school teachers (based on Morgan’ s table and selected via cluster random sampling) served as the sample. The data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire with the Cronbach’ s alpha of 0. 96. The error rate (α ) is considered 0. 05. Chi-squared test was used to analyze the data. Results The findings of this study showed that the complementary curriculum model for first-graders with Dysgraphia with an emphasis on improving and correcting insufficient writing was satisfactory from the point of view of curriculum developers, learning disorder specialists, and primary school teachers, and there was no significant difference in the three views. Conclusion The components of the curriculum are appropriate according to the three groups. It is suggested that curriculum developers and practitioners employ this model for improving and correcting insufficient writing in Elementary school.
