The purpose of this study is to determine the delay rate of scientific Persian language journals, and to identify the reasons and provide practical recommendations for timely publication of such journals. A survey and descriptive method was used. Data were collected from the journal section of Astan Quds Razavi Library, Magiran Database and Database of Scientific Journal Publication of Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Findings showed that 291 titles of 422 titles (69%) are not published on due time. 3.21% of the titles had only 1 issue delay, and 27% of the titles had more than three issues delay. The longer delay is seen in titles published in the fields of agriculture, humanities, basic science and the lowest delay was observed in the fields of medical science, engineering and art. The most important causes of delay are discussed and strategies for improving the situations are described.

The widespread access to new information technologies, especially the Internet, has increasingly stimulated the plagiarism phenomenon, whether consciously or not. Due to the importance of the phenomenon and its destructive impacts on knowledge progress, scientific communities have been increasingly looking for solutions to prevent or act against it. Automating plagiarism detection methods and enacting laws and regulations to prosecute violations are amongst the main solutions. Being unaware of the plagiarism definitions and types, a large number of authors commit it inadvertently or ignorantly. Thus, the present study endeavors to discuss the phenomenon and its dimensions. It also presents some instances of the world’s experiences in preventing, detecting and prosecuting the violations.

To Study the factors influencing user’s satisfaction of the library of the Faculty of Psychology and Education, Tehran University, 107 people (equal 10 percent of students academic staff) have randomly been chosen and they were asked to complete the questionnaire of user satisfaction. Findings show variables like collection richness and library services are the best predictable for user’s satisfaction. It means that these two variables totally show 43 percent of users’ satisfaction (p<0.01). Other variables such as librarian’s ability in answering the user requests, library regulation and rules, and library space and facilities could solely predict a meaningful contribution of users’ satisfaction, but when they were entered with variables like collection richness, and library services they could not increase a meaningful contribution to predictable.

The purpose of this study was to identify public library users’ interest in popular magazines in the province of Isfahan. Data gathering tools consisted of two questionnaires developed by the researchers. The first was distributed among 1000 library users of which 800 was returned. The sample consisted of users who visited public libraries during August 2009. The second questionnaire was completed by all the staff who worked in public libraries throughout the province.Our findings show that there is a significant difference between users’ interest and magazines provided. Findings also show that there are ten titles among users and also librarians that are demanded the most. Magazine subscription in public libraries studied need serious revision. Magazines with less demand should be deleted from subscription list to prevent waste of resources.

In this biblometric study all translated books in the field of Library and Information science were surveyed based on Variables such as subject, language, author, country of original language, gender of the translators and publishers. Findings showed that most of translated books belonged to Generalities. 23.7 Percent of such books were reprints, 60.4 Percent were translated individually, 94.7 Percent had been translated from English language, and 78.8 Percent originally came from USA and UK.

This study aims to analyse the Iranian University Website links in order to identify the characteristics of Interlinking and co-linking networks of these websites. These kind of data could help to identify core websites, their level of visibility, impact, structure and link pattern. 43 websites of Iranian universities ranked in the 100 highly ranked in Web of Science were investigated. It was found that the number of website pages, the number of PDF pages and the number of ISI articles as well as some social, cultural, political, economic and language factors could increase the visibility of the sites.

The aim of this paper is to rank factors of webometrics scale in Tehran, Esfahan, Tarbyat Modares, AlZahra, Mazandaran, Guilan, Yazd, Araak and Razi universities based on the level of knowledge management. The study population includes all the members of the departments at selected-universities. Employing a classified random sampling, data were collected through the distribution of a questionnaire among the 355 members of the academic staff’ at selected universities.

Choosing an appropriate vendor is a problem for many libraries. The aim of this study is to examine the performance of the Latin serials vendors from the viewpoint of experts at the department of foreign subscriptions of academic libraries affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, based on criteria of services quality, flexibility, speed and ability in supply journals. Data analysis was based on descriptive and inferential statistics and carried out by taking advantage of the social sciences software package (SPSS). The results revealed that there was a significant difference among vendors and they were placed in different groups. The results also showed that by the increase in the vendor’ performance, the extent of experts’ satisfaction did not increase in the same amount. Finally, in order to improve selection process and increase vendors’ performance, some suggestions were offered.

Since the 1960s, information technologies have gradually influenced libraries and information centers so extensively that have led their serving forms and methods to adopting substitute self-service methods. Web technologies are bases of the newest serving channels in libraries (especially academic libraries). These new channels include various services such as magazine bases, online catalogues, information resources; electronic reference services and ect. Nowadays, large number of academic libraries have provided their users whit these services. However, libraries cannot achieve their goals (of designing and budgeting these technologies) and enjoy their extensive and useful results unless users accept to adopt these services. Using a corpus-based approach, this study aims at investigating some related research and review articles for recognition and analysis of adoption theories, applicable in assessing electronic services in libraries. We hope to provide researchers with some valuable instruments for studying technological systems’ adoption rate and predicting library users’ behaviors. Furthermore, we hope to lay a research foundation and pave the way for more serious and more extensive studies to be conducted in the future.

The purpose of the present research is to present an optimal model for a website suitable for Iranian 12-14 year young adults. While content and structural characteristics are important for Iranian 12-14 year young adults websites, the architecture and array of different parts of website can be of similar important, since the dispersion rate of the icon and their places based on their nature and importance on the page must be specified. Due to the same reason, attempt has been made in the present research to allocate the places for and array of the icons necessary for a website suitable for Iranian 12-14 year young adults and ultimately presents an optimal model for this website. To do that, five different stages have been carried out that will be discussed after a brief review of important content and structural characteristics in this paper.

Functional Requirements for Authority Data (FRAD) is a conceptual entity-relationship model created by IFLA to link user needs and library authority data. This model is a part of IFLA FRBR. FRAD add special entities and attributes about authority control to FRBR and complete it. Conceptual framework and forecasting of it remind 4 main aims. These 4 aims cover librarian’s or users demands. These aims are: Find, Identify, Contextualize and Justify. The main goal is to prepare an analytical framework for surveying Functional Requirements for Authority Records and the international sharing of authority data.In this research, FRAD model has been introduced and its applications and functions in LIS have been surveyed. Also, the essential of using this model in information storage and retrieval for increasing functionality of information systems have been analyzed.

The aim of this study is to determine the principal factors for developing an “Electronic Resource Management Policy” for central libraries of Iranian universities. In this survey, a questionnaire was distributed among 112 managers of central libraries of State universities. Results show 9 necessary factors for Electronic Resource Management Policy for the central library of universities of Iran. These factors are: Access Issues; Technical Issues; User needs assessment; Mission, objectives and Financial Issues; Implementation & Review of Policy; Digitization Issues, Selecting Criteria for Electronic Resources; Introduction & Definitions; and Human Resources. An important result of this study is an objective model of interactions (intercorrelation) among these 9 factors. It is proposed that librarians take notice of these relations when writing policies.
