Background and Objectives: Increased bacterial (streptococcal) biofilm aggregation on the surface of resin composite restorations in comparison with amalgam and glass ionomer restorations makes the composite restorations susceptible to secondary caries next to the restorations. In this study, the anti-Streptococcus mutans properties of resin composites containing silver nanoparticles were investigated. Methods: In this experimental-laboratory study, using turbidity (spectrophotometry) test, the anti-streptococcus mutans properties of resin composites containing 0, 0. 02, 0. 03, 0. 04, 0. 05% w/w of nanosilver particles, were investigated. the composites were adapted on the wall surfaces of 400μ l microplates, and after curing or stiffening (by light curing apparatus), they were exposed to the bacterial suspension in broth medium. After 3, 24, and 48 hours, the optical density of the broth was read by spectrophotometer. Results: The results of the one-way analysis of variance showed that optical density (index of bacterial proliferation) in the composites containing silver nanoparticles with concentration of 0. 03% w/w significantly decreased at times of 3 h (0. 080± 0. 0009), 24h (0. 079± 0. 0013), and 48 h (0. 079± 0. 008) in comparison with composites without silver nanoparticles (0. 089± 0. 005, 0. 094± 0. 005, and 0. 101± 0. 009, respectively), which is indicative of significant decrease in bacterial proliferation. This antibacterial effects did not increase in composites containing 0. 04 and 0. 05 % w/w concentrations of silver nanoparticles. Conclusion: The results of this study revealed that all groups of the composite containing silver nanoparticles have antibacterial effect. Furthermore, optimal antibacterial effect exists in groups containing silver nanoparticles with concentration of 0. 03% w/w.

Background and Objectives: Post-cesarean pain and anxiety is associated with several complications and it is very important for maternal and neonatal health care and breastfeeding. Some Studies are indicative of a relationship between psychological factors and pain. The aim of this research was to investigate the relationship between perfectionism and post-cesarean pain and anxiety. Methods: This correlational descriptive analytical study was carried out on 70 eligible pregnant women who referred to Omolbanin hospital of Mashhad city for elective cesarean section. Sampling was performed using consecutive method. Data were collected using Ahvaz Perfectionism Questionnaire (APS) and the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (2-3 hours before cesarean section). Two hours after cesarean section, Spielberger questionnaire was used and to assess the patients’ pain, short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ), was used. Data were analyzed by Chi-square, Spearman, and Pearson correlation tests at the significance level of p<0. 05. Results: In this study, there was a significant correlations between perfectionism score and trait anxiety (r=0. 51, p<0. 001) and state anxiety before (r=0. 41, p=0. 001) and after (r=0. 43, p=0. 001) the cesarean section. Although there was significant correlation between perfectionism score and sensory dimension of SF-MPQ (r=0. 31, p=0. 017), no significant correlation was observed with emotional dimension of SF-MPQ (r=0. 14, p=0. 319(. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that perfectionism is associated with anxiety and pain after cesarean section; therefore, cognitive behavioral counseling is recommended for perfectionists during pregnancy.

Abstract:

Background and Objectives: Cervical cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers among women. Accurate diagnosis and treatment of complex diseases require precise identification of molecular characteristics of the disease. Transcriptome profiles provide valuable information on gene expression of the studied cells. Applying metaanalysis approache along with network-based approaches provides precise and valuable information about studied data, which can be used in developing new diagnostic and therapeutic methods. The aim of this study was meta-analysis investigation of cervical cancer transcriptome using a network approach in order to identify key genes in the disease. Methods: In the current study, three data-sets including 189 cervical cancer samples, were selected for cervical cancer. The data sets were analyzed separately and the results were integrated to obtain genes with the same expression pattern. These genes were used to construct gene regulatory network by STRING database. Network parameters (including degree and betweenness centrality), were used to explore key elements in the network, which are generalizable to cervical cancer. Results: In this study, 194 genes with same expression pattern, were identified in the three data-sets. Moreover, the obtained network analysis led to identification of 12 key genes in the gene expression regulatory network. Some of these genes have been previously reported as oncogenes and are involved in cell cycle regulation and DNA repair pathways. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, these genes can be considered as the potential diagnostic and therapeutic markers for the treatment of cervical cancer.
