Abstract: 

Background& Objectives: Nurses’ clinical decision-making is a complex process in OR that holds potential to influence the quality of care. So, this study was designed to investigate the effect of compound education simulation and critical thinking strategies on clinical decision making in Perioperative nursing students.Material & Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted as pretest-posttest design, on 32 Perioperative nursing students in two groups of control (15 students) and experiment (17 students). After performing the pretest of clinical decision making skills, both groups spent 16 sessions of simulation. The experiment group was taught using the simulation and critical thinking strategies and the students of control group had the simulation only. After finishing the educational course, clinical decision making skill in the two groups was compared and the results were analyzed by SPSS software.Results: Final results, the study showed no significant differences in the two groups.Conclusion: This study, Researchers provided an educational approach to improve clinical decision making in the operating room nurse. It would be an important step in upgrading the skill of clinical decision making in nursing. Therefore, further studies with more samples, and training sessions are offered.

Abstract: 

Background & Objectives: Continued evaluation, recognition of strengths and correction of weaknesses are necessary to improve clinical education; in this regard, opinions of students as the main element of education process can help us to develop futures programs.Materials& Methods: In this descriptive research 44 senior midwifery students studying at Tabriz Nursing and Midwifery Faculty were selected. Their Opinion about problems of midwifery clinical education was evaluated by a questionnaire consisted of 7 sections: demographic characteristics, clinical instructors, the students, clinical teaching environments, educational planning and Evaluation.Data were analyzed by using Descriptive Statistics in SPSS.Results: The problems mentioned by the students were, in order of importance: student factors (82%), clinical teaching environments (61%), Educational planning (56%), Evaluation (56%) and clinical instructors (36%).Conclusion: Findings showed that many of the clinical education problems can be reduced by providing facilities for students, creating interest in them and recruitment of competent instructors.

Abstract: 

Background & Objectives: Professionalization has been a fundamental and basic concept of nursing. This phenomenon appears in the result of an interaction between person-working environment and interpersonal communication. This communication allows to members to organize themselves and resources as well as working together to solve problems. Therefore nursing students should have achieved the appropriate level of socialization during their education. There are few studies conducted in our country on professional socialization of nursing students. The aim of this study was to survey professional socialization of nursing graduates of Nursing & Midwifery Faculty of Tabriz.Material& Methods: This descriptive study was conducted in 2010 in which 28 bachelor of nursing graduates were selected by using census method. The professional socialization questionnaire, containing 48 items, was used for data collection. The questionnaires scores ranged from 48 to 336. Data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics method.Results: 71/4 % of nursing graduates had a model of nursing education during their education courses. In their opinions 60/7 percent of clinical instructors and 25 percent of nurses were appropriate model in nursing cultural transmission.The mean score of student professional socialization was 249±29/5 while six students (21/4%) were in normal level and 22 students (77%) were in high-level of professional socialization.Conclusion: The level of professional socialization achieved by nursing students is acceptable.Regarding lack of studies in this issues and, also, importance of professional competencies of nursing students to fulfill the health system, additional investigation and without the limitation of the current study are recommended.

Abstract: 

Introduction & Objective: The professional knowledge of nurses will help enhance the quality of nursing care and prevent legal problems. Therefore, the purpose of present study was to assess knowledge of professional rules among hospital nurses of educational centers of Tabriz University of medical sciences.Materials and Method: This is a descriptive research in which nurses’ knowledge of professional rules was assessed using a researcher-made questionnaire. In this study 298 nurses working in educational centers of Tabriz University of medical sciences were selected by convenience sampling method. Data analyzing was conducted by using SPSS statistic software.Results: The results showed that 88/9% of samples had weak and 11.1% had moderate knowledge about nursing professional rules; none of the participants had high-level knowledge in this field.Conclusion: The results indicate that the professional knowledge of nurses participated in this study is not desirable. Also, there is a need to create training programs and for inclusion of them in nursing curriculum, too.

Abstract: 

Background & Objectives: Clinical clerkship is the most important part of nursing education. Clinical setting is stressful that may create tension to students.Exposure to high stress may have negative impacts on clinical learning experiences, success and mental health of them. The purpose of this study was to determine clinical stress of nursing students of Tabriz Nursing Faculty (2010).Material & Methods: This is descriptive study. All of the181 clinical clerkship students of the school participated in this study. After determining validity and reliability of the tool a questionnaire consisted of some social-demographic characteristics and standard scale of stress (Cohen) administered to the samples. Data analysis was performed using SPSS/Ver15.Results: Students’ stress had a mean of M=57/09±16/97, the stress level was moderate.Conclusion: Results showed that students perceived a moderate level of stress in clinical settings and instructors should focus on reducing the stress level of the students. To identify clinical education problems and pitfalls in nursing, especially stress factors of clinical clerkship and to find effective ways to cope with it, it is recommended that nursing-school officials should develop proper training and strategies providing for instructors and students.

Abstract: 

Background & Objectives: Leadership is one of the main requirements for the activities in today’s organizations. Leadership is very important in any professions, especially in challenging ones such as Emergency Medical. Disaster management and Emergency Medical Center (known as the 115 service) has been created in order to protect public health which is faced with stressful situations.Working conditions and the importance of accuracy and speed enforcement in saving lives increases the importance of job satisfaction. Among the factors that determine job satisfaction is leadership style. According to the conducted researches some leadership styles have increased job satisfaction.Materials & Methods: Statistical population included Technicians of Disaster management and Emergency Medical Center of Isfahan city and the managers of different levels. Society sampling was not performed due to limited number of them. To review leadership style Multifaceted Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) is used and the job satisfaction a questionnaire Job Description Index (JDI) were used. Validity and reliability of both questionnaires have been approved. Pearson correlation was used to analyze the relationship between leadership style and job satisfaction.Results: Findings showed a significant relationship between Transformational leadership style and the Transactional leadership with job satisfaction (P£0.01); there was no relation between Laissez faire Leadership style and job satisfaction.Conclusion: Managers of emergency services (challenging jobs) should have it characteristics of transformative leadership. In order to improve job satisfaction levels of emergency medical technicians it should be tried to strengthen effective leadership behaviors of managers across different levels.

Abstract: 

Background & Objectives: During the recent years many researches have been carried out on the effect of rotating shift work on career and family life of nurses but few studies have examined its impact on marital satisfaction among nurses. Thus the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of rotating shift work on marital satisfaction among Tabriz nurses.Materials & Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study included 150 nurses who were randomly selected from five hospitals. Data gathering tool was Enrich marital satisfaction scale and were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation and T-test.Results: Results showed that the nurse’s mean marital satisfaction for fixed shift was 145/05±19/90 Vs 151/26±20/09 for rotating shift group. Findings revealed no significant difference in marital satisfaction between fixed shift and rotating shift nurses (P=0.128).Conclusion: Regarding the results of the current research implementation of skill training programs is necessary to increase marital satisfaction of all nurses.
