Abstract:

Introduction The leadership of an organization needs specific features to adapt to changes. One of these features is nurse managers' emotional intelligence that should be identified and، if needed، learned to increase the competence of nursing managers. Aim The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and professional competence of nursing managers. Material & Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 105 nursing managers by census method in teaching hospitals in South Khorasan Province in 2016. Data were collected through demographic information questionnaire، managers' competence questionnaire Chase(2010) and Shering (1996) questionair's for emotional intelligence. The reliability of this questionnaire has been confirmed by experts through Alpha-Cronbach's coefficient (0. 84) and its content validity. Data was analyzed by SPSS software 16 using descriptive and analytical methods (t-test، analysis of variance and Pearson correlation coefficient). Results The mean score of emotional intelligence in nursing managers was (105. 25 ± 17. 94)، which indicates that most participants are in a good level in terms of emotional intelligence and the mean score of competency (280. 10 ± 46. 84) As a result، nursing managers are on average. There was a significant positive correlation between the emotional intelligence score of the participants in the research with their competencies (p <0. 001). Conclusion It is suggested to policy makers that they consider " emotional intelligent " as a main criteria for nurse manager selection. Also، they planning continuing education in this subject for nurse managers.

Abstract:

Introduction Satisfaction with the rights and benefits received and how it is distributed is one of the most important and most important dimensions of job satisfaction; in a way that has many effects on organization in the health system، quantity and quality. Aim The aim of this study was to determine the knowledge and satisfaction of nurses about performance based payment (Qasedak plan) and its relationship with the quality of nursing care in hospitals affiliated to Bushehr University of Medical Sciences in 2018. Material & Methods: The present study was a descriptive cross-sectional correlation study that was performed on 150 nurses working in hospitals affiliated to Bushehr University of Medical Sciences through cluster sampling with proportional allocation. The data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire on the validity and reliability of nurses' knowledge and satisfaction from performance-based payment (Alpha Cronbach 0. 862) and a valid and reliable questionnaire on nursing care quality (Alpha Cronbach 0. 94) of Rezaei et al. (2013)، completed by nurses. Using SPSS software version 16، descriptive statistics (mean، standard deviation and frequency) and test (Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression model) and at the significance level of 0. 05 were analyzed. Results Contributing nurses had performance-based payouts، high awareness (mean 58. 55)، and moderate satisfaction (mean 10. 20)، and provided high quality nursing care (mean 208. 08). There was a significant relationship between the mean score of nursing care quality in all aspects of psychosocial، communicative and physical aspects and nurses' knowledge about performance based payment. In other words، increasing awareness has increased the quality of nursing care. However، there was not a significant relationship between the mean score of nursing care quality and nurses' satisfaction with performance based payment (p> 0. 05). Conclusion Regarding the average satisfaction of performance-based payment method، nurses provided high-quality nursing care to patients، which could be due to the influence of spiritual factors and the high status of professional ethics in the performance of nurses despite the inadequacy of the salary and benefits.

Abstract:

Introduction High stress and frequent exposure with painful and agonizing conditions in the work environment of nurses can lead to Organizational Commitment in nurses، which can lead to mental injuries and adverse outcomes such as loss of quality and declined outcome. Given the importance of Coping Strategies in the face of adverse conditions، the aim of this study was Relationship between Coping Strategies and Organizational Commitment in Nurses. Materials and methods This research is a descriptive-analytic study in which 287 nurses working in special departments of the teaching hospitals affiliated with Birjand University of Medical Sciences were recruited by census method in 2017. Data were gathered using Lazarus – Folkman(1984) Coping Strategies Scale and Allen-Meyer(1993) Organizational Commitment Questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistics، i. e.، Mann-Whitney، Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman correlation coefficient were used for data analysis through SPSS version 16. Results The average score of the nurses’ total organizational commitment was moderate (96. 45 ± 9. 67). The mean score of coping strategies of nurses was 107. 47 ± 15. 15. . Spearman correlation coefficient showed that there was a significant positive relationship between organizational commitment and coping strategies scores (p = 0. 001، r = 0. 33). Conclusion Considering the rate of Organizational Commitment، more attention should be directed to the factors affecting Organizational Commitment. In addition، given the significant relationship between Coping Strategies and Organizational Commitment، it is recommended to incorporate Coping Strategies-promoting strategies into the nursing curriculum
