The purpose of this study was to formulate goals, foundations, principles and
methods of physical education (P.E) according to Islam based on the method of
coatent analysis, finding of the research indicate the there could be relationships
between Islam as a religion and P.E. as a science,So that the presuppositions could
be derived from Islamic thought which, in turn, Could influence the process of
theorizing in this science. Goals of P.E., Accordingto Islam, are in the direction of
general goals of Islamic education (I.E.), because P.E. is regarded as a part of
education in general. Goals of P.E. could be divided into three. Its final goal is the
same as the final goal of I.E., that is nearness to God. Mediative goals themselves
are divided into two kinds, individualand social goals. Finally,its partial goal is the
protection of health, strength, mirth for the life, and preparirig the background for
both livelihood in the present life and the after life .Foundations of P.E., are divided
into two kinds, individual and social, which are correspondent to general human
characteristics. Following the foundations, principles are also divided into two kinds,
individual and social, which rely on general human characteristics and refer to
general rules for regulating physical activities. Methods of P.E. are classified
according to the principles.
