This descriptive study carried out to determine the causes of unwished pregnancies in- 1512 pregnant women who were selected ranomly. Data was gathered using questionnaire and interiew. According to the findings the most important causes that can be referred to as factors of unwished pregnoncy are as below respectively:31.08% LD tablets,25.6% withdrawal method, 9.7% using no contraceptive method 9.3% condom, 5.4 % lactiferous pills ,4.8% IUD ,3.2% breast feeding method, 2.8% HD pills ,2.4% long -term acting ampules ,1.5% combined method ,1.4% rythem method, 0.7% T.L,0.7% amenorrhea ,0.5% illegal pregnancies ,0.2% triphasic pills, and 80.4% out of the 1512 cases had used contraceptive methods irregularly and 29.4% of them had not been trained proper methods of contraception.Intervening diseases in unwished pregnancies include: 22.3% blood spotting and bleeding ,15.1 % hypertention,13.5% vaginitis,9.7% cardiac diseases, 8.4% digestive disorders, 7.7% thyroid disorders,6.4% kidney diseases ,4.8 % migraine,4.4% diabet , 2.9% varice, 1.9% mental diseases, 1.6% epilepsy,0.8% breast tumor. Some of the drugs which may interfere with hormonal contraceptive methods used by women of target population in this study are also discussed in the article. However it seems necessary to educate proper use or how to use contraceptive methods to women.
