RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND CRITICAL THINKING IN STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS OF SOCIAL INTERACTIONS

Abstract

 This study aimed to investigate relationship between EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE and CRITICAL THINKING in students’ PERCEPTIONS OF SOCIAL INTERACTIONS. The study was descriptive-correlational. Therefore, from among all male and female students studying in master’s degree in counseling and archeology at IAU, Abhar branch, 156 were randomly selected as the sample and were divided into two groups based on their majors. To collect data, Peter Haney’s CRITICAL THINKING scale and Carl R. Glass EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE scale were implemented. The data gathered were analyzed using correlational and regressional SPSS tests. Findings indicated a strong correlation between EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE and PERCEPTIONS OF SOCIAL INTERACTIONS, and also, between CRITICAL THINKING and PERCEPTIONS OF SOCIAL INTERACTIONS. There was also significant relationship between EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE, CRITICAL THINKING and PERCEPTIONS OF SOCIAL INTERACTIONS.
