THE EFFECT OF TASK-BASED LEARNING ON THE SATISFACTION AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF MEDICAL STUDENTS IN KERMANSHAH UNIVERSITY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES

Abstract

LEARNING/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank">TASK-BASED LEARNING is a teaching method that emphasizes LEARNING through meaningful assignments in the completely student-centered approach. The present study investigated the effects of task-based teaching through DRAWING AND COLORING as HOMEWORK on the Satisfaction and academic achievement of MEDICAL STUDENTs as well as easier and more effective LEARNING of METABOLIC PATHWAYS of BIOCHEMISTRY course. After determining the control (65 person) and experimental (88) groups, the MEDICAL STUDENTs draw and painted carbohydrate METABOLIC PATHWAYS as HOMEWORK; while the scores of two groups were much out of their practices, statistical analysis was used to evaluate the performance of the method as well as a researcher made questionnaire was used for student satisfaction evaluation, the approval of questionnaire was confirmed by the faculty of BIOCHEMISTRY. Data analysis using statistical software SPSS-16 and t-test was performed; then here was a significant relation, p<0.001. Control group consisted of: 40% female, 60% male whereas the experimental group included 41% female, 59% male. Mean of scores in control group (9.63±2.59) and experimental group(13.73±2.45) were significantly different (Pvalue˂0.001). In addition, 40% of students believed that this new method was easy to learn and to remember, and the materials were taught clearly and precisely. This is not to deny the effectiveness of LEARNING/fa?page=1&sort=1&ftyp=all&fgrp=all&fyrs=all" target="_blank">TASK-BASED LEARNING via DRAWING AND COLORING of METABOLIC PATHWAYS as HOMEWORK which increases academic achievement and can help to learn the materials clearly and precisely and it seems easy to remember them.
