Abstract

Introduction: HELICOBACTER PYLORI organisms colonize approximately in half of the world's humans but only a minoritydevelopsa clinicallysignificantoutcome, such as gastritis, PEPTIC ULCER disease or gastric cancer. It seems that bacterial virulence factors and host's factors are involvedin developingadverse clinicaloutcomes. Methods: In this case-controlstudy, associationof virulence GENES CagA, VacA and UreAB of H.pylori with the developmentof different gastric disorders, polymerase chain reaction was evaluatedon H. pylori organisms isolatedfrom biopsy samples of stomach of 35 patients with ulcerative disease as cases, and 35 patients with no ulcerative disease as control group. The results were analyzed using Fisher exact test by SPSS Software. Results: The difference between the groups was statistically significant (P< 0.05) only for VacA gene. According to the prevalence of the three GENES under the study, we detected 8 genotypes. The prevalenceof phenotype CagA+ VacB+ UreAB+ was significantly higher in the patients with UO than that in the patients with NUO (P<0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that subjects being infected by a H. pylori strain with the genotype Cag+ VacA+ UreAB+are likely associatedwith an increased risk of acquiringan ulcerative disease.
