Abstract:

Depression is a common disorder among adolescents, often runs a chronic and relapsing clinical course. Many researches have showed that in the early 1990s there continued to be a Jack of empirical evidence supporting the use of specific treatments for adolescent depression. Therefore, there was an interest in developing and testing new treatments, particularly those that are short-term and manualized. IPT-A as a treatment approach that may beeasi1y disseminated to a variety of settings, emphasizing to identify the problem area, to relate depressive symptoms to problem areas, to focus on the current relation ships, and to help the patient master the interpersonal context of his or her depression have a crousial role. Thus, the main purpose of the present study was to study the effectiveness of interpersonal psychotherapy on adolescents' depression. Method of the present study is case study. One famale patients who met the DSM IVTR criteria for depression aged 16 years old was selected.Data was obtained by clinical interview and psychological assessments. The results suggest that IPT-A is an efficacious treatment for adolescent depression.

Abstract:

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of social skills training on self-esteem of visually impaired male students. The statistical population consisted of all visually impaired students of Shahid Mohebi Middle School as experimental group and students of Doctor Khazayeli as control group. From the population, 19 students from each group were chosen by purposive sampling. The Matson Evaluation of Social Skills with Youngsters (Matson, et al, 1983) and Coopersmith Self-esteem Inventory (Coopersmith, 1967) were utilized to measure social skills and self esteem respectively. We used a quasi-experimental research design. Instruction was conducted for the experimental group in eight sessions (90- minutes each) in a period of one month, twice a week. To evaluate participants, performance after a period of one month from the end of the instruction, both groups were reassessed. The hypotheses were tested using analyses of covariance. The results indicated that social skills training were significantly effective in enhancing self-esteem. The possible explanation for the increasing students' self-esteem might be due to participation of the experimental group in the social skills training program.

Abstract:

This study investigated the validity of the intellectual cycles introduced in the popular Biorhythm theory. For this purpose, a sample of 63 subjects were randomly selected and assigned to two experimental groups: 1 and 2. First, peak and off-peak days of the intellectual cycle were specified for the experimental group 1, and critical days of the intellectual cycle for experimental group 2. Then, members of these two groups were studied through repeated measurement design on the specified days from the perspective of cognitive functions. Each group was tested in two stage with Cattell intelligence test (the second scale of the forms A and B), the words association sub-scale of Wechsler Memory Scale (forms A and B), and Toulouse-Pieron speed and accuracy test (the first time), and Bonnardel test (the second time). The data were analyzed by mixed variance analysis: there was a between-group factor (the two experimental groups I and 2) and a within group factor (the administration of tests in two steps). The results showed that the cognitive function does not follow the 33-days intellectual cycle put forward by the popular Biorhythm theory. In other words, there was no evidence of the presence of these cycles in this experiment.

Abstract:

The main aim of this study is investigate the effect of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Program) on the achievement motivation and academic achievement among girl students.Participants include 56 female high' school' student (aged 15 to 16 years old). All subjects were randomly divided in tow sub-groups (28 as experimental group and 28 as control group). The Hermans' Achievement Motivation Questionnaire (HAMQ) was used in pre and post tests. Then Experimental group had received 18 weekly sessions NLP program (such as dealing with goal setting, time management, assertiveness skills, representational systems and neurological levels). One week after treatment, all subjects in both groups answer to the same measures as second post test. Also, the participants' grade point average from the first and the second academic terms were used to consider the academic performance.Data were analyzed through (ANCOVA) analysis. The results have shown a significant difference between the pre and post-test scores of achievement motivation for the experimental group. The findings of this study are in line with those of previous studies such as Ehteshami Tabar et al. (1384).

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to determine memory deficits in schizophrenia and the impact of information organization on improving of schizophrenic's memory. The population of this study was schizophrenic men who had bedridden in Razi hospital in Tabriz.28 schizophrenic (14 paranoid & 14 disorganized) and 14 normal subject were selected voluntarily. The normal subjects were matched with schizophrenic patients in age, education, and economic status. Subjects were tested with a list learning task consisting of a random and a blocked word-list. Analysis of the data involved both descriptive and inferential statistics including means, standard deviations, one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tuki. The results revealed that the normal subject in memory task doing better in comparison with schizophrenic patients. Also paranoid patients in memory task doing better in comparison with disorganized and in all of the groups, organize of information improve the quality of memory.

Abstract:

To study the effect of watching action movies on immune system, variations on concentration of secretory immunoglobulin A in saliva samples were studied. To do this, twenty two female undergraduate psychology and education students of Tehran and Alzahra University were randomly selected. Prior to the start of the experiment, all participants were observed by a physician and a physical health specialist. After obtaining their approval, participants were divided randomly in two of 11 experimental and control groups. An action movie was shown to the experimental group and a family movie was shown to control group. Base on repeated measurement design before and after watching movies the participant's saliva samples were collected in 5 minutes in same situation. Saliva samples were analyzed by Elisa analyzer and results were analyzed by analysis of covariance. The results showed that there was a significant increase in the concentration of slgA after watching action film in experimental group. Also this increase in concentration of slgA after watching action film in comparison with concentration of slgA before and after watching family film in control group was significant. We can conclude that watching action film can have an impact on concentration of slgA in students. Consistent with the findings of other studies, watching action films like watching horror and aggressive films and acute stresscan increase the amount of the concentration of slgA.
