Introduction: Improvement of the quality of life is one of the main objectives of treatment in patients with heart failure. This study aimed at examining the effect of an integrated group education program on quality of life of family members of patients with heart failure in Zanjan, Iran. Methods: This study was a randomized controlled trial. The study population included family members of patients with heart failure admitted to the CCU and heart wards of Ayatollah Mousavi Hospital in Zanjan City. Ninety-two family members of the patients were eligible to participate in the study. Family members of inpatients were selected by convenience sampling and randomly allocated into the two equal groups of control and intervention (n=46). Before randomization, participants completed an initial questionnaire and then were divided into the two groups. The participants were asked to fill out questionnaires three times during one year. The hospital anxiety and depression questionnaire was used to measure anxiety and depression. The Nottingham health profile questionnaire was used to measure quality of life. To determine the reliability and validity of the questionnaire, test-retest and content validity were used respectively. Data were analyzed by the SPSS software 22. The chi-square test and the gamma correlation coefficient were used to compare the two groups according to the demographic characteristics of the patient's family members. Also, variance analysis with repeated measures was used to compare anxiety, depression and quality of life between the two treatment groups. Results: The results showed that anxiety significantly decreased during the three measurement periods (P<0.001), but this decrease was not significant between the intervention and control groups. Also, the results showed that quality of life and its six dimensions considerably improved, but these differences were not significant between the control and intervention groups. There was a significant difference in depression between the control and intervention groups in the three measurement times (P=0.001).Conclusions: To promote disease-related knowledge, a combination of training methods can be used to examine its effect on rates of anxiety, depression and quality of life of patients' family members. Our results suggest that this intervention may be a useful strategy to increase social support among patients' family members. It is recommended that similar studies on the role of nurses in health promotion in relation to other chronic diseases be performed.

Introduction: Unhealthy lifestyle causes complications and requires greater attention towards education and health promotion programs among various social groups. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of peer education on health- promoting lifestyle in health volunteers. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, firstly, through the convenience sampling method, 59 cases from four subset health centers of Mashhad were selected based on the results of a pilot study. Next, through random assignment, 2 centers were devoted to the experimental group (29 individuals) and 2 other centers to the control group (30 individuals). In the experimental group, after selection of peer educators, an educational intervention was performed in 6 sessions. Overall, 45 to 60 minutes was assigned for each session in the form of small groups and cooperative learning. Common application of centers was organized for the control group. In both groups, lifestyle norm questionnaire was filled out before and 4 weeks after the intervention. Data Analysis was done using SPSS V.16 as well as t test, Mann-Whitney U, Wilcoxon, and Chi-Square Test. Results: After the intervention, mean scores of health promoting lifestyle showed a significant increase in the experimental group in all aspects compared with before the intervention (P<0.001). However, the control group showed no significant increase in all aspects except health responsibility (P>0.05). Difference of mean scores in all aspects of lifestyle in the experimental group was statistically significant compared with the control group (P<0.001).Conclusions: Peer education is effective in improving the lifestyle of health volunteers. Therefore, the use of peer education is recommended in health volunteers training.

Introduction: Clinical education is a dynamic process and a core in nursing professional education. The clinical education curriculum has been planned to develop nursing education, yet students are confronting challenges in clinical education. The purpose of this study was to compare clinical education from the perspective of nursing students. Methods: In this descriptive cross sectional study, using the census method, 150 nursing students were selected from nursing and midwifery faculties. Data were collected with a 35-item researcher made questionnaire, in Likert scale, with five domains in clinical education. Descriptive and analytic statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS (version 16).Results: The students showed better scores in objectives and educational planning (19.92±5.90) and moderate in instruction domain (14.73±4.96). The confrontation with student (51.2±33.7), clinical environment (79.2±48.9), and supervision/ evaluation was assigned weak scores. Also, most scores were related to nursing faculty at Shahed University and the least was to Shahid beheshti nursing faculty. There were no statistical differences in perspective of clinical education in different domains according to gender. Male and female students had different perspectives on clinical education. Conclusions: Given the essential role of clinical education, it is recommended to improve the skills of nursing students. Therefore, more attention is needed in school administrators and preparation.

Introduction: Infertile couples are faced with multiple psychological problems. This semi-experimental study aimed to examine the effect of the Fordyce happiness model on hardiness and marital adjustment in infertile couples. Methods: In this quasi-expremental study, the population was consisted of infertile couples in Quchan and Faruj cities in 2015. Twenty couples (n=40) were voluntarily selected and randomly assigned into the experimental (10 couples) and control (10 couples) groups. Couples in the experimental group received a psycho-educational program on happiness according to the Fordyce happiness model in 14 sessions (90 minutes). Data instruments included Hardiness and Spanier's Dyadic Adjustment Scales. Results: Repeated measures analysis of variance showed that an interactive effect of the group and time of the test was significant on each of the dependent variables (hardiness and marital adjustment) (P<0.01). Thus, the Fordyce happiness model was significantly effective on the hardiness and marital adjustment among the couples. Also, the mean difference between pre-test and post-test to measure both variables was significant (P<0.01) and this was statistically significant in favor of the post-test. The mean difference of the post-test and follow-up was not significant in any of the dependent variables (P>0.05), but the difference between the mean values of the pre-test and follow-up in all two dependent variables was statistically significant (P<0.01).Conclusions: This study shows that the Fordyce happiness model training has a stable effect on hardiness and marital adjustment. Therefore, we offer implementation of this method in improving the lives of infertile couples in nursing infertility centers.
