Abstract:

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) with partner’s spermatozoa is a usual treatment in many clinics for patients with ovulatory disorders, male, cervical factor, endometriosis or unexplained infertility.Despite the wide use of IUI, there are limited data, on the effect of patient age, cause of infertility and the number of treatment cycles on cycle outcomes. A total of 354 patients were undergoing IUI after using clomiphen + HMG or only HMG for controlled ovarian hyper stimulation since Jun 2000 up to Feb 2001.The results of this study demonstrate a decline in pregnancy rate with increasing the age of patient. However there is no significant difference between different ages in pregnancy rate. The most pregnancy rate according to the cause of infertility was observed in Endometriosis and ovulatory factor respectively and the cervical factor had the lowest rate. Also, this study revealed that the prognosis is good for up to 3 treatment cycles for most diagnostic groups especially in patients with ovulatory disorder.

Abstract:

Clustering is a Statistical Technique that can be applied in Multivariate data, leads to identifying homogeneous and similar groups of individuals, objects, ..., and in at all "subjects", based on common characteristics that have recorded or measured related to these subjects. Totally there are three Clustering Methods: Hierarchical, Non Hierarchical and Fuzzy.Fuzzy Clustering method because of more useful characteristics are available in related to extracting more information and solving problems that occur in two other methods, then this technique has been recently more expanded. In this paper by using of Fuzzy Clustering technique provinces of country are clustered or in fact homogeneous provinces of country are identified based on Health and Demographic Indices. Four groups of health and demographic indices that have been used in clustering are: 1) Household health service indices, 2) family planning indices, 3) fertility women indices and 4) health and community children indices. These indices are extracting from DHS (Demographic and Health Survey) design that is running by the ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education in 1379.Based on each of these indices, similar provinces are clustered. Results of this research are useful in running and rendering of health services proportional to situation of homogeneous groups of provinces by health officials.

Abstract:

Sub acute toxicity of MS14 which has been designed for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS) was studied in rat. In this study wistar rats of both sexes were used. The animals orally received MS14 at doses of 625, 1250 and 2500mg/kg for a period of 28 days. Control group received vehicle (%1 w/v solution of car boxy methyl cellulose). Blood and serum samples for hematological and biochemical assays and tissue samples for histopathology study were prepared at the end 0 f this period. Results showed that n one of doses of MS14 caused mortality or behavioral and autonomic changes during the period of 28 days. Biochemical and hematological parameters of test groups were not significantly different from control group. Histopathology study also revealed no sign of toxicity. Although results of this study confirmed the safety of the preparation, however, other toxicological experiments are also required.

Abstract:

The neuro protective effects of deprenylin motoneuron of spinal cord after axotomy peripheral nerve such as sciatic is reported, it is a mono amino axidase type-B (MAO-B) inhibitor. The neuron function is the release of neurotransmitters from pre-synaptic vesicle to synaptic cleft. One of the neurotransmitter is acetylcholine which is synthesized by chorine acetyltransferase (ChAT) and is used as a marker for function.Synaptophysin is one of synaptic vesicle protein and is used as a marker for neurotransmitter. The aim of this research is to study the effect of deprenyl (2.5mg/kg) injection on synaptophysin and ChAT immunoreactivity. Intra peritoneal injection was done following axotomy and continued for 21 days, they perfuse with paraformaldehhyde (4%) and spinal cord segment L4-L6 processed for immuno-histochemistry.The results showed that deprenyl (treated) axotomized had higher ChAT and synaptophysin expression as compared with those untreated axotomized.

Abstract:

Matrix metalloproteinase’s (MMPs) are critical enzymes in some pathological stages such as Rheumatoid arthritis and cancers. We studied the effect of two Non-Steroi9al Anti-inflammatory Drugs (Diclofenac and Piroxicam) and a synthetic glucocorticoid, Dexamethasone in an in vitro cell cultured model using cytotoxcity analysis and zymography assay. Based on our data, all above mentioned drugs are able to induce inhibitory effect on Matrix Metalloproteinase (MMPs) expression. The comparison of inhibitory potency of these agents in a concentration range between 10 to 200 µg/mL revealed that Diclofenac has more cytotoxic effect than the others. Low dose administration of Diclofenac (10-20 µg/mL), is applicable for relieving the patients problem, whereas at high dose it induces cytotoxic effect on cell proliferation and cause cell death. High doses administration of Piroxicam and Dexamethasone show little cytotoxcity on cell culture. Furthermore, the cytotoxic effects of these agents are concomitant with their effect on MMPs expression.

Abstract:

The effects of aqueous and essential oils of onion on growth and lipase activity by Malassezia furfur were investigated. The best lipase producer was selected based on screening of 10 Malassezia furfur isolates obtained from pityriasis versicolor cases on specific solid medium. Then, optimal conditions for lipase production by this isolate were determined regarding to temperature, aeration and incubation time on modified Czapeks broth. All of the isolates produced lipase on both solid and liquid culture media. The maximum lipase activity was detected for 4th days submerged cultures of M. furfur isolate 132 at 28 C. Intra - and extracellular lipase activities at predetermined optimal conditions were determined as 0.98 - 6.16 and 12.81 - 99.87 mU/mg protein for different isolates, respectively. In contrast to onion oils, the growth of M. furfur isolate 132 was inhibited by aqueous extract as a dose - dependent manner. The minimum and maximum growth inhibition were recorded as 2.64 % and 100% for total amounts of extract equal to 0.62 and 40 mililiter, accordingly. Interestingly, lipase synthesis was inhibited by both aqueous and oil extracts as a dose - dependent manner. This inhibition reached to maximums about 66.94% and 40.72%, respectively. This is the first report on inhibition of M. furfur lipase by aqueous and oil extracts of onion. Since fungal growth and lipase activity are considered as two important factors in pathogenesis of M. furfur infections, substitution of currently used highly toxic antifungal drugs by natural compounds such as onion is recommended.

Abstract:

The preparation the educational facility for disabled children is one of the important duties of governments. From this point of view, overall principles of education and acceptance of disabled children in community different researches have been carried out, for example the research of Antia(1) and Lampropoulou (2) about school children but there is not any structured research about inclusive education in kindergarten level in Iran in spite of its importance. The aim of this research is to study the attitude of kindergarten teachers for inclusive education and the effects of their age, experience, marital status and education on this attitude. For this reason, a questionnaire with 19 questions was prepared and completed by 215 teachers of Tehran kindergartens which were selected by simple random methods. The results showed that 62.6 percent of teachers agree and 20.6 percent completely agree with inclusive education. By increasing the age and experience of the teachers the rate of agreement towards inclusive education decreased and marital status had not any effects on this agreement. Regarding the 83% agreement towards inclusive education between s elected teachers; the facilities and teaching programs should be prepared for normal kindergartens to accept the educated hearing-impaired children.

Abstract:

World Health Organization (WHO) recommends application of traditional medicine in medical - health services system; and has recently published a strategic plan for development and promotion of traditional medicine in four areas. The first area includes identification of traditional medicine, presentation of a proper policy and plan. The second area covers development of education and research, particularly in the university level. The third area consists of establishment of unity and cooperation between the employees of traditional and modern medicine. The fourth area contains development of cultivation of the needed herbs to prevent destruction of natural resources. Although, the 1st and 2nd goals, that is to formally recognize TIM and development of education and research have a key role; but we should not forget t hat a II the four goals a re essential to achieve a proper, efficient, and low cost system. Therefore, the respective authorities should view the whole path, entirely, and with a proper schedule; so that the system could develop in a consistent and proper manner.

Abstract:

Helicobacter pylori is considered as an important factor in chronic gastritis, peptic and duodenal ulcer, also probably in adenocarcinoma of distal stomach. H. pylori infection can be led to chronic ulcers and ultimately to atrophy and stomach metapasia. H. pylori shows an increasing resistance to the current antibiotics. For this reason the present research in which the anti bacterial effects of five food additive plants against eight strains of H. pylori were investigated. The plants spearmint, Liquorices, Perennial weed, Mayweed and Thyme were selected to act against eight strains of H. Pylori. The effect of ethanol and water extracts on H. Pylori specimens isolated from the patients was studied, using the agar diffusion method.Considered water extracts for their antibacterial effects, spearmint had the most anti H. Pylori efficacy (mean of inhibitory growth zone diameter; 14mm). Liquorices, Perennial weed, Mayweed and thyme were respectively placed thereafter. Among ethanol extracts, spearmint with diameter mean of. 10 mm showed the most efficient effect as compare with Liquorices, Perennial weed and thyme.Water, ethanol extracts of spearmint, liquorices had higher anti H. Pylori activity. Recognition of the effective fraction of this plant as an efficient anti H. Pylori is further step to be investigated.
