THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EDUCATIONAL GAMES ON LEARNING MATHEMATICS SYLLABUS CONCEPTS IN FIRST-GRADER SCHOOLGIRLS

Abstract

 The aim of this research was to examine the effectiveness of EDUCATIONAL GAMES on students’ LEARNING of mathematical concepts. The statistical society included all primary first-grade schoolgirls in Rey city within 89-90 scholastic year. The sample consisted 50 students based on Kokran formula who were selected through multi-stage sampling and were randomly assigned to two groups of 25 (control and experimental). To collect data, two 30-item questionnaires on concepts of teaching numbers (notation) and contrasting numbers (>, <, =) were used. The 6 games were administered within 10 sessions. This quasi-experimental research was of pre-test, post-test with control group and follow-up type. Descriptive and inferential statistics (paired and independent groups t-test) were used to analyze data. The results indicated that EDUCATIONAL GAMES were effective in the students’ LEARNING of mathematics concepts of notation, <, >, and =.
