THE CASUAL EFFECT OF PARENTAL SELF-REGULATION ON STUDENT"S ACADEMIC SELF-REGULATION AND THEIR ACHIEVEMENT

Abstract

 The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of PARENTAL inducement of Academic SELF-REGULATION (ASR) on students ASR and their achievement. For this purpose, 201 high school students in grade 1 (81 boys, 120 girls) were used as the sample.These students showed their parceptions of their parents influence on their ASR, with answering the PlASR questionaire. They also answered ASR questionaire. We also used the mean of Farsi and Mathematics scores as the measure of academic achievement. Path Analysis indicated a diret effect of PARENTAL SR inducement on students ASR and a direct effect of students ASR on achievement. ALSO, PARENTAL SR inducement Significantly predicted students achievement through mediation of students ASR. Besides multivariate regression showed encouragement as one of the most important compoent of PARENTAL SR in predicting achievement. These findings have implications for family instruction and for improving ASR.
