Abstract

Aims: Considering the importance of ACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY and health status of STUDENTS in the educational system, the aim of this study was a prediction of the ACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY among STUDENTS in Gonabad Medical University based on their SOCIAL HEALTH status. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study in 2015. The study population consisted of all BS STUDENTS (N=1056) at Gonabad Medical University. Data collection tools included Keyes’ SOCIAL HEALTH Questionnaire (2004) and Self-efficacy Questionnaire developed by Solomon in 1984.Independent t-test, Pearson correlation and regression tests were used to analysis the data. Results: There was no significant difference between male and female STUDENTS’self-efficacy while there was a significant positive correlation between components of SOCIAL HEALTH and ACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY (P<0.01). The findings also revealed 23.6% of STUDENTS ACADEMIC SELF-EFFICACY variance can be explained by Social flourishing, social cohesion, social solidarity and social acceptance (f=17.255P<0.05).Conclusion: The findings showed that some SOCIAL HEALTH components (namely social flourishing, social cohesion, social solidarity and social acceptance) are predictive of STUDENTS’ self-efficacy.
